ABOUT US

Art Gallery & Framing Services in Duluth, MN

Lizzards was founded in Downtown Duluth, Minnesota in 1991, not far from its new location at 11 West Superior Street, in the historic Wirth building. Lizzard’s frame shop can frame nearly anything, in nearly any size, and mount it with materials that range from commercial-quality to museum-quality. This includes your posters, photographs, artworks, precious documents, and everything in between. We feature an enormous array of framing stock and glass stock from which you can choose to frame your order.

Lizzard’s Art Gallery & Framing is owned by Jeffrey Schmidt.

Jeff became a manager at Lizzard’s former location at 38 E. Superior Street in January 1999.

In 2003, he purchased the gallery with a partner, and by 2006 he became the sole owner. That same year, Schmidt relocated the gallery to its new location in the historic Wirth Building. Lizzards is a consignment art gallery that features a very eclectic mix of originals by local artists. Lizzard’s also offers gallery-quality custom framing.

Events at Lizzard’s are posted on Facebook and Instagram. “Like” us and check it out! Schmidt usually holds five events per year from April to December. He also often features performance artists at his openings. Stop in soon and say “Hi” to Jeff.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jeff does a great job of helping me choose frames, and of course he does a great job framing. I always enjoy seeing the art on display, which he changes up often. Great service-he has always met deadlines that we agreed on.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My wife is an artist who has used Lizzard's several times for rather large framing projects. They have been unbelievably helpful to her in helping plan these projects and have gone above and beyond in getting them done ahead of the timeline. And the quality of their work is exceptional. The staff is so kind and easy to work with and we couldn't be happier with our experiences with them.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What an absolute treasure of a gallery. I could spend a week in here and that still wouldn’t be enough time. Jeff and Sarah are thoughtful, kind, and considerate in every interaction. I had five pieces framed here and the recommendations from the Lizzards team truly elevated each piece. The details matter — mat edging, size of mat, wood type, curvature of frames to match font. They are experts and their personal appreciation for each piece comes through in every detail. I am looking forward to buying and framing art here for many years to come.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My greatest sadness is that I only discovered this gallery two weeks ago. I had had a home robbery and was looking to replace some of my stolen art. Also, I had several pieces to be framed. I have never felt better about discussing the type of art I wanted and I welcomed suggestions in replacing my stolen art. The staff are so incredibly good. I will definitely have more comments when I finish replacing my artworks. This place is a gold mine and I just wish I could live there and take in all the beautiful pieces of art.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Friendly staff. Said hi and introduced themselves. Had small talk with my boyfriend, then left us alone as we slowly walked through the store exploring their many artists, but being close by and very responsive when asking questions and mentioning art or artists we liked. They have pottery, statues, jewelry, paintings, etc.
