Lizzard’s Art Gallery & Framing is owned by Jeffrey Schmidt. Born in Nicollet, Minnesota, Schmidt received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1990 from UMD. Schmidt began working at the Art Dock in Canal Park. He then became a manager at Lizzard’s past location at 38 E. Superior St.

In 2003, he purchased the gallery with a partner, and by 2006 he became the sole owner. That same year, Schmidt relocated the gallery at its new location in the historic Wirth Building. Lizzard’s is a consignment art gallery that features a very eclectic mix of originals by local artists. Lizzard’s also offers gallery-quality custom framing.

Opening receptions at Lizards are listed in “The Wave,” published on Thursdays in the Duluth News Tribune’s Arts and Entertainment section. Schmidt usually holds five receptions per year from April to December. He also often features, performance artists at his openings. Stop in soon and say, “Hi” to Jeff.
